According to international media reports, there was an incident on Tuesday where a young man allegedly stabbed to death 24-year-old Michaela Dunn in Sydney, Australia and injured another woman. The man who stands accused is 20-year-old Mert Nye. In this disturbing video, he appears to be holding a knife in the air while screaming “Allahu Akbar”. He is then chased and subdued by a group of men.
From The Guardian:
The 20-year-old man arrested over the rampage, in which one woman was killed and another stabbed, remains in hospital under guard and police don’t expect to lay charges until Saturday.
The New South Wales government has launched a review of the accused’s treatment by health services.
John Bamford, 64, told Seven’s Sunrise program he was getting lunch on Tuesday when he saw a man emerge from the side of a building “and I think he had the knife raised”.
“I just grabbed the chair and, you know, went after him basically as best I could,” the lawyer said.

International media reports have framed this as a case of a mentally ill person but local reports indicate he “had in his possession a phone and USB stick with information about recent mass deaths and white supremacist attacks in the US and New Zealand.”
The bystanders who helped subdue him have been dubbed heroes. 29-year-old Lee Cuthbert was one of the men who jumped in. “We had a window open to get some air in and then we just heard the commotion … we looked out and saw him on top of a car wielding a knife and we all just kind of reacted from there,” he said.
All this comes after another stabbing that definitely was dubbed terrorism, in Melbourne Australia in November of last year. See video from that incident which left two dead, below.
