The Left Moves Toward ‘Open Borders’ as #CuccinelliResign Trends on Twitter

“It’s meant no chance for 11 million immigrants to come out of the shadows and earn their citizenship if they pay a penalty and pass a background check, pay their fair share of taxes, learn English, and go to the back of the line.”

That was part of a statement in 2014 from Barack Obama and the White House regarding illegal immigration. Fast forward to today and acting USCIS director Ken Cuccinelli is being told to resign on Twitter with the hashtag #CuccinelliResign and getting blasted in the media and Democrat presidential candidates for essentially suggesting the same exact thing.

Cuccinelli said in an NPR interview:

“Give me your tired and your poor who can stand on their own two feet and who will not become a public charge”

This aforementioned quote, taken severely out of context, has been the subject of much controversy.

Failing presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke also took to Twitter to offer his opinion on the situation, claiming that:

This administration finally admitted what we’ve known all along: They think the Statue of Liberty only applies to white people.

It is unlikely that this inflammatory rhetoric will help Beto at all in the polls, but if he and other Democrats have their way, it is clear that there will be no end to this debate until there are total open borders. Many Democrats refute that they are the party of open borders but at the same time rarely if ever talk about what they would do to secure the border and often people like O’Rourke even want to remove existing border walls.

In the video below Cuccinelli states clearly that he has no intention of actually changing the wording on the statue of liberty. From the video:

“I’m certainly not prepared to take anything down off The Statue of Liberty”
