A federal judge in Colorado has sided with U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R) in a suit brought on by a former Colorado House Rep named Brianna Buentello. What the suit really came down to is that Boebert had blocked Buentello on her personal account, which is different than an official government account.
“The First Amendment’s protection of the people’s right to free speech, like other rights protected by the Constitution, is implicated only when the government, not a private entity or individual, regulates speech,” said the judge.
Arizona State Senator Wendy Rogers congratulated Boebert:
“Congrats @laurenboebert! Well done! I need to block hundreds more anti-American whiners and trolls now!”

Buentello, a Democrat, sued Boebert back in January, trying to get Boebert to unblock her. While she is a constituent of Boebert’s, the judge sided against her. Buentello tried to use former rulings such as the one that said former President Donald Trump can’t block people on Twitter. Buentello can still view Boebert’s offical Twitter account.
David Lane, Buentello’s attorney, called the ruling “a shame”. He also claimed that it limited Buentello’s free speech.
It’s ironic that the left is worried about free speech since they champion Twitter and Facebook banning former President Trump and many others on the right, and some, we assume, on the left as well.
Lane claimed that Boebert uses her personal Twitter for political purposes and therefore should not be allowed to block constituents. It seems very arbitrary that judges are the ones making these decisions in the first place, in our view. In this case though, many fans of Boebert’s, and likely those of Trump’s will be happy in this particular ruling.
