Trump Asks for Apology after Joe Biden Claim that the US Declined Covid-19 Tests from WHO is Debunked by Politifact and Experts

“The World Health Organization offered the testing kits that they have available and to give it to us now. We refused them. We did not want to buy them.” This is what Joe Biden Falsely claimed at a March 16 Democrat Presidential Primary Debate. Politifact debunked his claim. They added in addition to many more details if you click the link above:

  • The WHO never offered to sell test kits to the United States.
  • The CDC opted to develop its own coronavirus test and did not use the WHO’s protocol for the test.
  • Other developed countries with advanced research capabilities developed their own tests.

A reporter asked President Trump about this today at a Coronavirus press briefing and President Trump slammed Biden, the Democrats as a whole, and even the Obama Administration. Then Health Ambassador Deborah Brix and Brett Giroir of HHS confirmed that Biden’s claims were in fact not correct.

President Trump, “I do have to say, when you talk about politics, I watched the debate, not too exciting. But what they said about me, and we’ve done a great job when you talk about not being bipartisan, what they said about me. And if you look at swine flu, I guess it was 2009, what they did and the mistakes they made, they were terrible, they were horrific mistakes. 17,000 people died, and I’ll be honest, they shouldn’t be criticizing, because we’ve done a fantastic job.” He goes on to talk about press coverage being negative as you can see in the clip below:

Shortly after President Trump’s response, Deborah Brix explained the real situation with poor tests that were not accepted. She made the point that they were not going to accept any tests that would give false positives.

Then Brett Giroir says nothing was ever actually offered, and the tests from the WHO that were in question were “research-grade tests” not submitted to the FDA anyway. President Trump gets his last word in after the experts, “so number one, nothing was offered, and number two it was a bad test, I assume he will apologize..” See below:

It will be interesting to see if Joe Biden decides to respond to this or let it fall to the wayside as Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden, along with other Democrats (not all), attempt to discredit President Trump, Vice President Mike Pence, and their expert’s attempts at managing the horrible Covid-19 pandemic.
