Congressman Elise Stefanik (R-NY) has been selected to be the Trump campaign chair for the state of New York for 2020 re-election. Stefanik is running for reelection of the 21st district of New York as well.
President Trump called Stefanik the “new Republican star” in November. Stefanik was a leading voice against impeaching Trump during the House Intelligence Committee’s impeachment inquiry lead by Adam Schiff (D-CA). She stood firm for President Trump during the hearings. See below:
Stefanik announced the selection on Twitter with a formal press release from her campaign. “Honored to be selected by @realDonaldTrump as a New York Chair for his 2020 re-election campaign! His agenda of creating jobs, strengthening our military, securing our borders, negotiating trade deals & lowering crime rates has historic support in #NY21.” See tweet below:

Five others were named as honorary chairs, US Reps. Pete King (R-NY), Tom Reed (R-NY), and Lee Zeldin (R-NY), New York City Councilman Joe Borelli (R) and Dutchess County Sheriff Butch Anderson.
Trump has started his Campaign Rallies in 2020, already visiting Miami FL, Toledo OH, and Milwaukee WI already with two more Rallies planned for January. Trump isn’t letting impeachment slow him down. Today Trump signed a new phase one trade deal with China. He will be heading to Davos, Switzerland to give a speech at the world economic forum. Last year he missed the event due to the government shutdown. 2020 has started off big for president Donald Trump.
Fox News also reported on the story:
Stefanik’s performance at that moment and throughout the hearings earned her praise from fellow Republicans and likely contributed to her being named an honorary chair for the Trump campaign.
“I’m looking forward to working with his campaign to deliver another decisive victory in my district. President Trump’s record of results will win handily over far-left radical resistance in November,” she said.
