After much back and forth in the media and American culture, side-taking and fingerpointing, most people can agree that violence in any name is not OK. With events throughout the United States poorly but loosely representing both political sides, such as the ‘Unite the Right‘ in Charlottesville where white supremacists and AntiFa alike reared their heads, it’s to be noted that some ‘evil’ gets more scrutiny than others.
This morning President Trump tweeted out that, as with any organization who uses violence to push a political agenda, or any agenda, AntiFa being labeled as a terrorist organization is needed.
Trump tweeted:
“Major consideration is being given to naming ANTIFA an “ORGANIZATION OF TERROR.” Portland is being watched very closely. Hopefully the Mayor will be able to properly do his job!“

Portland, Oregon seems to have a very strong presence of AntiFa. Even today, AntiFa is planning protests in Portland to counterprotest another rally in what appears to be a potential right-wing left-wing showdown.

From USA Today:
As Portland braced Saturday for possible violent clashes Saturday between far-right and far-left activists, President Donald Trump threw a spotlight on the tense confrontation by tweeting that the city is “being watched very closely” and that he hopes the mayor will “do his job.”
Mayor Ted Wheeler and Chief Danielle Outlaw have vowed to use the full force of the law against anyone committing acts of violence or vandalism and ordered that none of the nearly 1,000 sworn police officers would have the day off.
More than two dozen other agencies, including the Oregon State Police and the FBI, will help local authorities.
The city’s concern was that a far-right rally dubbed “End Domestic Terrorism” could turn into a slugfest after a militant, far-left antifa, or anti-fascist, group vowed to confront the rallygoers they described as “invaders.”
This is not President Trump’s first call for action such as this. Not long ago he tweeted a very similar message in the wake of Senators Ted Cruz and Bill Cassidy’s proposal to label this group.
As recently as July 27 of this year, Trump also tweeted:
“Consideration is being given to declaring ANTIFA, the gutless Radical Left Wack Jobs who go around hitting (only non-fighters) people over the heads with baseball bats, a major Organization of Terror (along with MS-13 & others). Would make it easier for police to do their job!”

Violence From Either Side is Not Acceptable.
President Trump has recently decried other groups such as white supremacists and in the wake of the El Paso, TX shooting as well. No matter what, it seems like it is never good enough for the left and they always try to blame him for things that he has no control of.
Although it seems like many on the right simply want to denounce all evil, the left is afraid to say too much bad about the group AntiFa, and at times has come close to even defending it, such as CNN’s Chris Cuomo when he said that “all punches are not equal, morally“. Cuomo, recently under fire for losing his cool in a viral video, has been making headlines for all the wrong reasons lately.
Echoing the silence of the media when right-wing journalist Andy Ngo was assaulted by AntiFa activists and got nearly no immediate assistance from Portland Police, most reasonable people could probably agree, ALL violence needs to be treated the same way: unacceptable.
Even Jake Tapper, another CNN anchor, not right-wing by any stretch of the imagination, has acknowledged AntiFa’s dangerous potential. In an expose video AntiFa says that they will stop ‘white supremacists’ by ‘any means necessary’. Experts say AntiFa is growing around the country via social media recruiting although many on the left lay blame at President Trump’s feet.
