Democrats have been talking up the possible side effects of a promising potential new treatment for the COVID-19 Virus that is taking the world by storm. The old malaria drug Hydroxychloroquine, and a combination of it and Azithromycin are two potential treatments for COVID-19. We know that it hasn’t been proven en masse yet but there is hope that it could work. President Trump has gone on record saying that he knows it may not work but he is very hopeful.
Many Democrats like US Rep Ted Lieu (D-CA) have bashed the idea, in what appears to be an attempt at trying to tarnish the appearance of President Trump’s efforts to mitigate the disease. All medicines have side effects, so it’s important to know the pros and cons of anything you take with your doctor. That being the case, here is Ted Lieu talking up possible side effects of “Taking Hydroxychloroquine & Azithromycin together”, where he says no one should take it without consulting a doctor.
This was part of a retweet where President Trump was touting the possibilities of the combination of drugs. Nowhere did President Trump ever actually say to not consult a doctor though, so Lieu’s tweet is at best, misleading, at worst, a nasty attempt to divide the country in the midst of what could be one of the worst situations we have ever faced. See tweet below:
Taking Hydroxychloroquine & Azithromycin together causes a drug interaction that increases risk of irregular heartbeat, which may be life-threatening. No one should take these drugs together without consulting a doctor.https://t.co/r5tQ2cFOiDhttps://t.co/ielNQBIIQl https://t.co/S4jy4gbpIg

Don Jr. criticized a similar attempt at downplaying the decades-old malaria drug chloroquine (not the combo) by showing that a Bloomberg story syndicated by MSN appeared to take a possible side effect out of context. Jr. stated:
What’s your point? 2 grams of caffeine can kill you too, but no one is planning on prescribing that much.
This bullshit is why everyone hates and doesn’t trust the media. They are trying to create fear for clicks with misleading and irrelevant info.
You people truly suck!

Recently Governor Cuomo has begun touting the same potential treatments for the COVID-19 virus, and actor Daniel Dae Kim claims to have been successfully treated by the new drug already. Trump Jr.’s tweet wasn’t directly related to the Cuomo praise and Daniel Dae Kim news but seems to fit right in. Will the left-wing Hollywood class and media be trashing Cuomo for touting the same things, or will they be silent? Most people already know the likely answer. See tweets below:
BREAKING: Gov. Cuomo says New York will start implementing the trial drugs to treat Coronavirus and that they have acquired 70,000 Hydroxychloroquine, 10,000 Zithromax, and 750,000 Chloroquine from the Federal Government.

This Is Exact Cocktail @realDonaldTrump spoke about.. Must be prescribed by a physician.
As our #President said “This could be a game changer”. https://t.co/xMPVHsLml9
The bottom line here is that Trump supporters and many Americans on both sides who just want a solution are sick of the politics. People just want unity and the ones pushing disunity in the face of bipartisan efforts to save American lives should be ashamed of themselves. There is much confusion and misinformation out there and nobody knows for sure what will happen or which drug or combination of drugs might do the trick for sure. But we need to prioritize what matters most so that we don’t make things worse than they already are.
