Vice President Mike Pence today thanked “the leadership of President Trump and the courage and compassion of the American people, our public health system is far stronger than it was four months ago, and we are winning the fight against the invisible enemy.”
He said that, “In recent days, the media has taken to sounding the alarm bells over a ‘second wave’ of coronavirus infections. Such panic is overblown.”
Elizabeth Warren wasn’t impressed so she took to Twitter and issued a 3 part tweet response saying that the approach is “as pathetic as it is reckless.” She ended it by saying, “Wake up & get to work.”
So that’s it, @VP Pence? You’re just going to close your eyes, plug your ears, & pat yourself on the back for the public health catastrophe under your watch? This is as pathetic as it is reckless.

And if @VP Pence is bored, he could find out why @CDCgov still has huge gaps in its race & ethnicity data so we make sure our federal response is reaching Black & Brown communities hit hardest by this crisis. This shouldn’t wait until the August deadline.
The White House ignored the threat of COVID-19 until it was too late to stop it, left states without the equipment to fight it, & didn’t track its spread to contain it. Now they want to wave a magic wand & declare “Mission Accomplished.”
