On Monday’s “The View,” the co-hosts discussed the poor police handling of Tyre Nichols, which tragically lead to the man’s death, which should have never happened.
On Friday evening, the City of Memphis, TN released four videos of the police encounter with Nichols that eventually lead to his death. In one of the videos, five Black policemen are seen beating Nichols, kicking him in the head, hitting him with a police baton, and punching him as well.
Goldberg mentioned how a Black man was beaten to a point he couldn’t recover from by Black police officers. This had her saying very divisive things that she knows appear to be racist.
Goldberg asked, “Do we need to see white people also get beaten before anybody will do anything?”
The clip on Daily Caller’s Twitter starts with Goldberg stating, “When will the brutality finally lead to some police reform from the ground up? Because clearly, it doesn’t matter if it’s a White police man or a Black police man, it is a problem in the police and the policing itself. Ya know, it seems things don’t seem to make sense to people unless they can feel or can recognize. How many times do we have to see.”
Goldberg then looked up and changed direction mid-sentence, “Do we need to see White people also get beaten before anybody will do anything?”
She then looked into the camera to clarify, “I’m not suggesting that. So don’t write us and tell me what a racist I am.” She admits she knows what she said sounds racist but she is also saying that she isn’t.
Time will tell if anyone holds Goldberg accountable for going overboard once again despite the tragic situation in the news that we are all angry about.
