Whoopi Goldberg told ‘The View’ she is done with Twitter, today is her last day on the platform she announced.
Opening a segment on Elon Musk’s Twitter Whoopi called it a mess. She highlighted that Musk is letting go of staff adding a fee for verified blue check accounts and the icing on the cake, is that he suspended Kathy Griffin.
Whoopi shared that Griffin was suspended for pretending to be Musk on a “parody” account, which isn’t true. Griffin used her account and changed the display name and picture to that of Musk.
Whoopi then announces, “I’m gettin’ off, I’m getting off today, because It’s so messy. I’m tired of now having had certain kinds of attitudes blocked, now they’re back on, I’m just gonna get out. And if it settles down and I feel more comfortable maybe I’ll come back but as of tonight I’m done with Twitter.”
Right before Musk took over Twitter, many accounts were released from suspension. It wasn’t made clear why but some may speculate that those suspended didn’t violate Twitter’s written rules.
Whoopi doesn’t want to feel uncomfortable and this is the reason she has announced she is why she is leaving Twitter. She did admit that she could come back to the platform if things change. She did not blame specifically the fee that would be added to her verified account but she did bundle it in with Twitter being a mess.
Musk has only had control of Twitter for a short time and is working out the kinks in his effort to improve Twitter. His goals are to keep it a profitable company and also make it a place where there is a free exchange of ideas. A place where accounts won’t be suspended for offending someone who doesn’t hold the same viewpoint.
Many are leaving the platform for now at least or just threatening to. Musk has a goal for Twitter and he is striving to get it there as soon as he can.
