‘Why Give Money to People Who Hate Us?’ Rand Paul Dumps DirecTV From His Home After OANN Cancellation

U.S. Sen Rand Paul (R-KY) announced today that he has dumped DirecTV from his home after the company announced they were canceling One America News Network after their contract expires.

In a tweet, Paul declared, “.@DIRECTV is cancelling @OANN so I just cancelled my home Direct TV.”

Paul then asked, “Why give money to people who hate us?”

OANN replied to Paul’s tweet and said, “Thank you Sen. Paul for standing up for freedom of press and diversity in news.”

Progressive Twitter user “AppeaseThis” responded to OANN and suggested, “You still have freedom of the press. (DirectTV) is a private company. The government is not restricting your speech.”

“The Free market rejected your network, so (DirectTV) made a business decision to remove you from their line up. They don’t carry North Korean state TV either,” he insisted.

Of course, as we previously reported, Joe Biden called for social media companies and media outlets last week to curb the spread of “misinformation” about the COVID-19 pandemic.

Biden declared, “I make a special appeal to social media companies and media outlets: Please deal with the misinformation and disinformation that is on your shows. It has to stop.”

“Covid 19 is one of the most formidable enemies America has ever faced. We have got to work together, not against each other,” Biden appealed.

Not long after that, we reported that DirecTV plans to drop the One America News Network from their channel lineup in April when their contract is up.

In a tweet, U.S. House Rep Lauren Boebert (R-CO) speculated today that perhaps the two situations are related and could be a form of political suppression.

“DirectTV decided not to renew their contract with OANN. Pretty convenient that this comes within a week after Biden begged companies to silence ‘misinformation’, meaning his opposition, I stand with @OANN!” Boebert declared.
