Country music legend Willie Nelson is staying active, despite being 88 years old. It’s no surprise that Nelson has left-wing leanings. He is a major supporter of Marijuana legalization as well, for obvious reasons.
This being the case though, Nelson has a lot of history with many more right-leaning artists or at least singers who right-leaning Americans have historically been fans of and enjoyed, putting Nelson sort of in the middle there, whether he likes it or not.
Nevertheless, Nelson is apparently helping the radical left-wing Democrats raise money, despite their immigration crisis at the southern border, along with many other disasters that many on the right would blame on the Biden administration that we won’t get into here.
Former U.S. House Rep Beto O’Rourke (D-TX) apparently has lassoed (pun intended) Nelson into helping him raise big bucks for Democrats. O’Rourke is famous for his anti-gun stance and failed run for U.S. Senate and president.
This comes after a group of Texas state reps abandoned their post and flew to Washington D.C. This was to avoid the General Assembly in Texas from being able to gather a voting quorum in an effort to stop the GOP from passing new voter integrity laws.
Democrats have labeled these new laws as voter suppression Meanwhile the Democrats are flying illegal immigrants all around the country. We’re not sure exactly what you’d call that as it pertains to possible potential voting changes although obviously illegal can’t vote in federal elections while their status is undocumented. Many hope to eventually get amnesty from Democrats, although a recent SCOTUS ruling may make it hard for them.
Axios reported in part:
By the numbers: By Wednesday afternoon, a fund-raising site for the 57 lawmakers had “raised $526,780 from 14,654 donors, for an average of $36 per donation,” according to the Dallas Morning News.
O’Rourke thanked Nelson and wife Annie Nelson in a statement on Tuesday for “generously matching the next $5K in donations to support Texas Democrats in their fight for voting rights.”
It seems that Nelson will still keep some respect for lifelong fans, in spite of his Democrat leanings, but may lose it with many others. At his age, he’s probably not too concerned but it’s sad for some of his fans who may feel conflicted. Although Nelson may have a left-leaning history, the Democrat party in 2021 is more radical than it ever has been in our view, and those sticking to that party are more questionable than before, again, in our opinion.
