According to the Chicago Police Department, a woman wielding a gun and utilizing her concealed carry permit shot at alleged thieves over the weekend.
The woman shot a 13-year-old boy after he and at least three others tried to break into a parked vehicle on Friday.
One of the men brandished a handgun, but the woman was able to fire her own gun and strike the boy in the neck.
The other suspects fled the scene and no weapon was recovered, ultimately, as area detectives are investigating.
The boy was taken to the Comer Children’s Hospital and the police said he is in fair condition.
One Twitter user, Bob Winkelman, responded to the news, “I would never advocate for a 13 year old to get shot, I hope he’s ok.”
“Chicago is so out of control right now, I’ve been saying all along that it’s going to get bloody for it’s residents to take it back,” he continued.
Winkelman added an apparent shot at Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot as he said, “You can thank the Dem policies for all of this.”
