U.S. House Rep Alexandria Ocasio Cortez has largely ignored a fundraising gimmick by Daily Wire’s Matt Walsh, instead talking about how she’s going to tell people who to vote for. Walsh was trying to “own the libs” by raising money for AOC’s Abuela who’s home was in disrepair in her home country. Walsh took lots of flak for that move by many on the right, who said the gimmick wouldn’t work, and it didn’t.
She apparently did some “election homework” for you instead, and will announce all the candidates for which she will want you to vote.
“We did some NYC election homework for you! We went through every single city council race to see which candidates in YOUR neighborhood have pledged to build an NYC that’s affordable, safe, & just for all. Announcing NYC’s @CouragetoChange candidates tomorrow at City Hall.”

As we previously reported, “On Wednesday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez announced on Twitter that her grandmother was ill. She explained how she flew to Puerto Rico to visit her for the first time in 12 months. AOC saw that her home had some interior damage due to Hurricane Maria and accused the Trump administration of not doing enough to provide relief for Puerto Ricans like her grandmother.
Rightwing commentator, Matt Walsh, saw this and accused AOC of being a poor granddaughter. Walsh replied to her Twitter thread saying, “Shameful that you live in luxury while allowing your own grandmother to suffer in these squalid conditions.” AOC replied to Walsh, accusing him of not being able to fully understand her life due to the fact that she is a “1st-gen, first-born daughter.”
Seemingly inspired by AOC responding to his tweet, Walsh created a GoFundMe for AOC’s grandmother’s home.
Clearly, Walsh is attempting to troll AOC and her situation. He is mocking her and seems to believe that her situation isn’t bad at all considering that AOC is very well off financially. AOC has yet to release any statement answering if she will accept the money. The GoFundMe had a goal of $48,990 but has raised a whopping $58,507 in only 4 hours.”
Now after Matt Walsh was able to raise over $100,000 to help AOC’s grandmother, it appears the family will not be accepting the money.
“UPDATE: “someone” in AOC’s abuela’s family told GoFundMe that she won’t take the money, even though AOC previously claimed that her grandma was in dire straits (and it was Trump’s fault). @AOC still hasn’t acknowledged this effort or thanked us. Here’s the email from GoFundMe:”

As AOC is set to release a list of candidates she supports and endorses, she is not willing to even help her grandmother with the money that was raised by conservatives. It is sad AOC will not put her grandmother over partisan politics, but not surprising, and Conservatives should know better than to think they will gain points with stunts like this.
