Following news that rapper Lil’ Wayne had endorsed President Trump, Comedy Central‘s “The Daily Show” host Trevor Noah had a discussion on his show to try to figure out “Why are black men more likely to support Trump than black women?”
After a monologue, he brought comedian Roy Wood Jr. on to ask him some questions and the first thing he asked was, “What do you think is behind Trump’s appeal to black men?”
Wood said that he believes 90% of black men “aren’t voting for Trump.” He said that pointing them out was like blaming all the “crazy stuff happening in the Trump administration” on Ben Carson.
Noah, however, was not swayed because he “the fact remains, some black men are voting for Trump.” Wood compared those folks to “some white people who can dance on beat, there’s always going to be outliers.”
Still not convinced, Noah wondered, “The interesting thing here is that Trump is doing better with black men than previous Republicans did, why do you think that is?”
Wood responded by saying that Trump, “low key, is a rapper” and that, “Some Black men are just straight-up Republicans, and they just don’t wanna pay taxes, which I get… some of your taxes go to pay for batons that you get hit upside the head with.”

Noah then talked about some history that Trump had, that he felt should disqualify him from being voted for. Wood replied, “What white candidate is there that has a healthy history with black men?”
Wood explained, “You’ve got Hillary with the super predator, you’ve got Joe Biden with the crime bill, then you have the one with the jheri curl… Millard Fillmore, they all have damaged history for black people.”
“If you told black people not to vote for a white candidate because they got a weird history with black men, they would just never vote,” Wood insisted.
