‘EVICT THEM!’ MTG Calls for AOC and Cori Bush ‘Homeless Camp’ on Capitol Steps to be Disbanded

What began as a protest by U.S. House Rep Cori Bush (D-MO) has now turned into an occupation at the U.S. Capitol by multiple House Reps including U.S. House Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY).

U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) is again crying foul after the group of activists have turned the place into a “homeless camp.”

“Communists Cori Bush and AOC have turned the East Capitol steps into a homeless camp, even leaving Dominos Pizza boxes, Cheez-Its, and Oreos strewn all over the ground,” Greene tweeted.

Greene urged, “EVICT THEM!”

Sharing pictures of the trash, Greene noted, “Look at all the capitalism!”

Bush tweeted out this morning, “5 AM. This morning felt cold, like the wind was blowing straight through my sleeping bag. Since Friday—when some colleagues chose early vacation over voting to prevent evictions—we’ve been at the Capitol. It’s an eviction emergency. Our people need an eviction moratorium. Now.”

A recent article from The Independent explained that Ocasio-Cortez “is not taking the end of the eviction moratorium lying down, literally.”

Ocasio-Cortez explained that Capitol Police said she and others are not allowed to formally lie down, so they have to stay sitting up.

“Yeah, I mean I have a little meditation cushion I’ve been sitting on and some of us are just cycling in and out, giving each other a break,” Ocasio-Cortez told The Independent.

Previously, we reported:

Earlier, we reported that U.S. House Rep Cori Bush (D-MO) claimed she slept on the Capitol steps to protest the ending of the eviction moratorium.

Bush tweeted out this morning a picture of herself with activists on the Capitol steps and said, “Good morning. The eviction moratorium expires tonight at midnight.”

“We could have extended it yesterday, but some Democrats went on vacation instead. We slept at the Capitol last night to ask them to come back and do their jobs. Today’s their last chance. We’re still here,” Bush explained.

U.S. House Rep Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) was not impressed by the protest, quote tweeted Bush, and offered her advice.

Greene asked, “How was your camping trip?”

“Good thing it didn’t rain,” Greene suggested.

Greene offered, “Stop paying people to not work and skip rent, and it will all work out well for everyone.”
