NBC Reporter: Facebook Responds to Biden Admin Criticisms, ‘We Will Not be Distracted by Accusations Which Aren’t Supported by the Facts…’

Dylan Byers, who has a verified blue check on Twitter and is apparently an NBC Senior Media Reporter appears to have been in contact with higher-ups at Facebook. Via White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki, the Biden administration has been slamming Facebook and social media companies in general.

Biden’s team is claiming that social media companies aren’t stopping misinformation related to Covid-19 fast enough, and aren’t enforcing their rules efficiently. Psaki also recently stated that if someone is banned on one social media platform, they should be banned on others as well.

Dylan Byers appears to have gotten a direct quote from Facebook, that appears to show them firing back at the Biden administration.

#Break: FACEBOOK responds to Biden’s “They’re killing people” remark >>”

FACEBOOK: “We will not be distracted by accusations which aren’t supported by the facts. The fact is that more than 2 billion people have viewed authoritative information about COVID-19 and vaccines on Facebook, which is more than any other place on the internet.” … (1/2)

… “More than 3.3 million Americans have also used our vaccine finder tool to find out where and how to get a vaccine. The facts show that Facebook is helping save lives. Period.” (2/2)

Time will tell how this pans out at the White House, and how the Biden administration responds. Earlier today we reported in part:

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki claimed today that if someone is banned from one social media platform, then they should be banned from all others.

“PSAKI: If you’re banned on one social media platform, you should be banned on other social media platforms.”

Yesterday, we reported more on the Biden administration’s demands in part:

Joe Biden’s Press Secretary Jen Psaki signaled Thursday that the Biden Administration wants to be able to dictate how big tech company of Facebook implements rule violation penalties for misinformation, as the administration doesn’t believe Facebook is moving quickly enough to remove the content.

“PSAKI: “There’s about 12 people who are producing 65% of anti-vaccine misinformation on social media platforms.” “Facebook needs to move more quickly to remove harmful, uh, violative posts.”

Stay tuned for possible updates to this rapidly developing situation.
