George W Bush appears to either have shifted completely, or was never conservative to begin with. It appears for America First proponents, former President Donald Trump was absolutely right about the Bush family according to new words from former President Bush.
The entire Bush family, with perhaps the exception of George P Bush, the Trump supporting Texas Land commissioner, also has had it out for Trump for a while. Former President Trump was in large part, successful at turning most Republican voters’ view of the Busy legacy as a poor one, forcing the Bush’s to side with former Democrats presidents and Democrat policies to stay relevant.
In the new interview, George W apparently sided with Democrats and many “RINO” style Republicans against the ongoing populist/nationalist movement started by Donald Trump, that appears to have taken on a life of its own. Not only is this movement gaining momentum here in the United States, but it is gaining popularity around the world.
All around the world, mass immigration is being used to prop up falling populations of first world countries in the name of economic growth and supposedly helping said immigrants. There seems to be a common denominator though, as recently pointed out by Tucker Carlson, that many immigrants tend to favor the more left leaning political parties of said nations. This begs the question is there something deeper going on.
Beyond immigration, many right-wingers in the U.S. are fed up with bad trade deals, getting their votes diluted by newcomers who often vote left, and suffering a loss of heritage and culture in their native born country. In our view, this and many other reasons, is why the GOP has started to go this route. Many in the GOP are fighting it of course, and many are starting to sound just like Democrats.
Previously the GOP was the party that was more likely to support foreign wars and foreign aid. Now, many right wingers want those foreign interventions to end. The Bush era legacy of policing the world has all but died off, as neither party really wants that, but bureaucrats and swampy centrists on both sides, many with connections to large companies like Raytheon and other possible foreign interests, keep pushing for this anyway.
The major difference in the sides now is immigration. Republicans argue over social issues, economic issues, and some still support mass immigration, but the majority is shifting towards supporting less overall immigration while the left wants almost open borders in our view. This is why Nikki Haley recently said she’d support Donald Trump if he runs in 2024. She knows, in our view anyway, that she wouldn’t have much of a chance anyway.
The Bush family is apparently being exposed for who they are, and they are not happy that the jig is up, and has been up for a few years now. Jeb Bush was absolutely decimated by Donald Trump on the debate stage in 2016 and rumors are swirling that he is still furious about that. Brother George W Bush is likely also offended still, by default.
Politico reported:
Former President George W. Bush described the modern-day GOP as “isolationist, protectionist, and to a certain extent, nativist” in an interview Tuesday that was packed with implicit criticism of the most recent Republican president.
“It’s not exactly my vision” for the party, Bush told NBC’s “Today” show in a rare live TV appearance. “But, you know, I’m just an old guy they put out to pasture.”
Still, Bush remained hopeful that a more moderate Republican — one who supported reasonable gun reform measures, increased public school funding and a path to citizenship for undocumented workers, among other measures — could succeed in the party’s 2024 presidential primary.
“I think if the emphasis is integrity and decency and trying to work to get problems solved, I think the person has a shot,” he said.
Bush, who was on hand to welcome 30 new U.S. citizens from 17 different countries during a naturalization ceremony on Rockefeller Plaza, also decried the divisive rhetoric that has surrounded the immigration debate in Washington — and reached new levels of hostility under former President Donald Trump.
“It’s a beautiful country we have. And yet, it’s not beautiful when we condemn [and] call people names and scare people about immigration,” he said. “It’s an easy issue to frighten some of the electorate. And I’m trying to have a different kind of voice.”
It seems that when people voted for the Bush’s and the McCains in recent years, they weren’t really being given much of a choice from the Democrats, other than perhaps more war mongering. Time will tell how the GOP continues to shift as it fights for it’s life with more and more Democrats seeming to compound in California, New York, and other states.
It’s also funny that Bush would attack the generic GOP. The GOP is only moving slowly in the direction of what the voters want, and in large part has moved very slowly and still leans towards the moderate side. Ronna McDaniel, Mitt Romney’s neice, still runs the RNC. Although she has supported Trump by default, her conservatism has been less than stellar. Does George W Bush not know how politics work, or has he always been a bad faith actor?
