We reported yesterday that the National School Board Association backtracked in a letter to their members, apologizing for the controversy a letter sent to President Joe Biden created.
U.S. Senator Josh Hawley (R-MO) shared the letter in a pair of tweets and insisted that Garland “should resign” over the situation.
“Now Joe Biden and Merrick Garland must apologize for mobilizing the FBI against parents based on misinformation the NSBA has disavowed,” Hawley said in the first tweet.
Hawley took it a step further in the second as he explained, “Merrick Garland mobilized the FBI to intimidate parents without legal basis and, we now know, premised on misinformation he didn’t bother to verify.”
“It was a dangerous abuse of authority that has badly compromised the Justice Dept’s integrity and Garland’s. He should resign,” Hawley insisted.

U.S. House Rep Jim Jordan (R-OH), who really took Garland to task during a House Judiciary committee hearing this week, said of the letter in a tweet, “Parents win. Big Government loses.”

As was noted yesterday by Washington Free Beacon’s Noah Pollack, Garland has to testify before Senate Judiciary Committee next week and that letter will do him no favors.
Hawley is a member of that committee so he will likely be asking tough questions of Garland when he appears before him.
U.S. House Rep Jim Banks (R-IN) also called on Garland to apologize in a blistering tweet.
“A major embarrassment for the Biden administration. Merrick Garland must apologize and explain why slanderous rhetoric from such a radical and unprofessional group was able to mobilize the FBI against school parents,” Banks asserted.
