The list of leftists who sounded off negatively on July 4th wouldn’t be complete without including pop singer Katy Perry.
In a tweet, Perry claimed that women in the United States have “fewer rights than an actual sparkler.”
“‘Baby you’re a firework’ is a 10 but women in the US have fewer rights than an actual sparkler smh,” Perry declared in the now-viral tweet.
In response, however, many pointed out that Perry had previously shown support for Los Angeles Mayoral candidate Rick Caruso.
Caruso had previously been called by Planned Parenthood Advocacy Project’s Los Angeles chapter to apologize for “funding anti-abortion rights candidates.”
As some pointed out, Caruso quickly issued a tweet stating that he will “work vigorously to protect a women’s right to choose.”

Perry had previously quote tweeted her fellow pop singer Halsey on June 30, who had said the day before, “The ‘people pay to see you sing not hear your views’ argument is so dumb.”
“No, you paid to see me use a stage as a form of expression in the manner that I choose. Sorry you lack the critical thinking to realize that the rhetorical power of music doesn’t always serve your escapism,” Halsey suggested at the time.
At the time, some Halsey fans had reportedly walked out of her concert over an abortion rights speech that she gave.
Perry told Halsey in the quote tweet, “go off Queen.”
