Although “The View” has not made an official announcement about Meghan McCain’s replacement, People is reporting that former White House Director of Strategic Communications and Assistant to President Donald Trump Alyssa Farah Griffin will be taking the permanent role.
The show has had Griffin as one of its many rotating hosts over the past year, she will become the 23rd host over the show’s past 25 years.
The show has been on the hunt to replace the “conservative” McCain who left last year. They seem to have found someone, while formerly attached to Trump seems more in line with Meghan McCain politically.
This news has some of “The View’s” fans threatening to boycott the show. Twitter users @Music_Is_Me88 and @Whitneyfan90 are not happy with the perceived choice producers have made.
Whitneyfan shared, “I get the feeling they will hire Alyssa full time. I’m not a fan all. They should keep the rotating guest host. #theview”. To which @Music_Is_Me88 responded, “If she is hired I’m out all over again! Do the producers not see how excited we all were when Meghan left?!! I have not missed her for one second! We don’t need toxic Trump rejects for this show to be interesting! #TheView”

Griffin finds herself disliked by many, she signed on with CNN as a commentator after departing from the Trump White House and has not kept many Trump supporters as fans since then. She also has constant ire with “The View” co-host Sunny Hostin who also seems to despise Griffin.
This dynamic doesn’t seem too different from that of the former co-host McCain who Griffin is set to replace. It seems “The View’s” producers were looking to bring back the drama they had back when McCain was on.
