Louisiana state representative Jeremy LaCombe has officially become a Republican. LaCombe made the decision to leave the Democrat party.
Sam Karlin shared the news on Twitter:
“News: Louisiana House Democrats have lost another member to a party switch. State Rep. Jeremy Lacombe has switched to the GOP. It comes after state Rep. Francis Thompson gave the House GOP a supermajority by switching parties.”
This news comes just a couple weeks after another Democrat, Francis Thompson jumped ship and join the Republicans, giving them the supermajority in the Louisiana legislature.
While LaCombe didn’t cite his reason for switching parties, House Democratic Caucus Chair Sam Jenkins gave a statement.
Jenkins reassured that Lacombe still embraces the “same values”. He continued, “House Democrats will continue to stand up for the working people of Louisiana. We look forward to working with Rep. LaCombe during this legislative session to increase wages, lower costs, improve our schools and pass insurance reform that benefit Louisiana families and small businesses.”
As the Democrats continue to embrace the extreme progressives in their party, more and more centrists are leaving the party altogether.
