According to a report by TMZ, Newsmax wants Tucker Carlson to come on board with them going as far as offering to let him, “program the whole channel”.
While Newsmax hasn’t made an official offer, according to TMZ sources the network is “putting on a full-court press to land him.”
While Fox News has seen a decline in viewership since parting ways with Carlson, Newsmax is seeing its ratings increase.
TMZ reported Newsmax wants Carlson for a primetime show. They also want him to help with rebranding the channel.
Carlson is still under contract with Fox News and is not free to have formal discussions about future employment under that contract, according to TMZ.
With that, it seems Newsmax is trying what it can to get the word to Carlson that they are interested. News Nation, according to TMZ, is also interested in Carlson, and OANN laid out an offer to Carlson quickly after learning of his departure from Fox News.
It appears that Carlson will have lots of options on the table when he is free to shop for his next gig. He may just do what many who leave Fox News do and be more of a free agent, possibly hosting his own show or debates.
Many are waiting to see what Carlson does.
In our personal view:
Newsmax has had many good conservatives like Michelle Malkin, Steve Cortes, and Emerald Robinson and failed to keep them. One has to wonder why, and if this desire to land Carlson is genuine, or if it’s the right move for Tucker should the reports come to fruition. Perhaps Carlson could do better starting his own operation?
