New York Senator Schumer (D) took to Twitter yesterday saying that he sent Trump a “serious letter” and the President responded with a “petty, unserious letter.” He took it one step further by demanding that Trump, “Be a leader. Do your job.”
When I sent Pres. Trump a serious letter on getting critical medical supplies to our frontline fighters, he responded with a petty, unserious letter. To the President: Americans are dying and losing jobs. Businesses are teetering. Stop the pettiness. Be a leader. Do your job.

To the President:
Americans are dying and losing jobs. Businesses are teetering. Stop the pettiness. Be a leader. Do your job.
Schumer also went on MSNBC to say that he is just “appalled.” He mentioned the need for “leadership” again and to “stop the pettiness.” “Let’s get it done. Let’s roll up our sleeves,” he claimed.
Sen Schumer had originally sent a letter to President Trump to designate a senior military officer and asking for that officer should be given full authority under the Defense Production Act to implement a plan for “increased production, procurement, and distribution medical devices and equipment.”
In that letter, he criticized the President’s response to the Coronavirus pandemic multiple times including when he asked for the officer by saying, “it is long past the time,” implying that the President had failed to act. He calls the President’s refusal to activate the DPA a “failure” as well.
Trump wrote back to Sen Schumer telling him that “we have given New York many things, including hospitals, medical centers, medical supplies, record numbers of ventilators, and more.”
“You should have had New York much better prepared than you did, as Dr. Fauci and Dr. Birx said yesterday, New York was very late in its fight against the virus.”
“As you are aware, the Federal Government is merely a back-up for state governments. Unfortunately, your state needed far more of a back-up than most others.”
