NFL quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, Aaron Rodgers sat down with Bill Maher a week before the first games of the NFL kickoff for Maher’s podcast Club Random. The podcast was released a week later on the same day as the first Sunday games for NFL football.
Rodgers had some pretty strong words for Gavin Newsom and the state of California during the podcast.
“State’s going to shit, but I’m hanging on,” Rodgers shared.
“I grew up in a small town, very little [COVID] cases up in Chico, California, but all the small businesses? Fucking gone.”
“I think there’s a lot of people that believe that you should have your own decision-making on your own medical decisions. My thing is, I have an issue with the hypocrisy in society in general and I know you do as well, but abortion has been a hot topic, right?”
Rodgers went off on Governor of Califonia Gavin Newsom. Newsom is set to sign bill AB 2098, which will limit health professionals’ ability to speak their minds on medical issues. Once it is put into law, if what a doctor says is deemed “misinformation” or “disinformation” they could be subject to having their medical license revoked.
Rodgers asked, “based on whose standard of misinformation?” will be used to decide what is what. There are already legal challenges against the bill.
Rodgers also mocked Newsom for his appearance at the French Laundry in 2020 as the state of Califonia was under strict COVID lockdowns and mask mandates. Something that highlighted California Democrats’ blatant disrespect for the rules they enforced on their constituents, including Nancy Pelosi’s salon trip.
Rodgers hasn’t shied away from talking bout the disastrous COVID policies that crippled our nation and specifically the state of California. He told Maher, “I’m a rational thinker. I’m not on one side or the other.”
He also expressed that he is pro-life and in the same breath that the government shouldn’t be telling you what to do with your body. A stance many people take, in what seems as a stance they aren’t willing to really take even though they see it as wrong.
The Packers lost their first game of the season Sunday against the Vikings 7-23. It is interesting to hear such a substantial figure speak out in such a way.
