According to US Weekly, a source close to Jada Pinkett Smith, Will and Jada both know that Will Smith overreacted when he leaped up on stage at the Oscars and slapped comedian Chris Rock after he joked Jada for her bald head.
Rock responded by announcing to the room, “Will Smith just smacked the sh*t out of me.” Will returned to his seat and screamed at Rock, “keep my wife’s name out your f***ing mouth,” twice.
This according to the source was not something Jada wanted saying, “She’s not one of these women that needs protecting. He didn’t need to do what he did, she didn’t need protecting. She’s not a wallflower. She’s a strong woman, an opinionated woman and she can fight her own battles. But she will stand by him.”
These words don’t sound like a woman standing by her man who went too far in defending her. This may make people question how sound the pair really are. The Smiths claimed they don’t have a conventional marriage and tend to overshare about private matters in their marriage.
In the summer of 2020, the pair sat down on Jada’s show Red Table Talk to address Jada’s affair with their son’s friend, August Alsina. During the odd discussion, it appeared that Will Smith was breaking down but the pair claimed he was just tired. Will mentioned wanting to get revenge and one point doing the interview which it seems that Jada laughed off.
August has claimed that he had the blessing of Will to continue his affair with Jada.
August it seems, has taken advantage of the heightened media attention to his affair with Jada Pinkett Smith. It seems he is in talks to sign a six-figure book deal about his affair with the star. He also released a song that alludes to the affair shortly after the Oscars slap.
In December of 2021 Jada shared with Instagram her recently shaved head saying, “Now at this point, I can only laugh. Y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here. Now, this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide, so I thought I’d just share it so y’all not asking any questions, but you know, mama’s going to put some rhinestones in there, and I’m going to make me a little crown.”
Since the Oscars, Will Smith has apologized publicly to Chris rock and resigned from the academy over the slap.
A week ago Jada shared a short message with only words on Instagram, “This is a season for healing and I’m here for it.”
One thing the slap did for Jada and Will Smith was brought them to the forefront of many people’s minds. They have been in the public eye for a long time but with this controversy, they have been the talk of many in the media as well as on social media.
As some have pointed out many people didn’t even know the Oscars were taking place until the slap trended on social media across the world. Now even more people are aware of their unconventional relationship.
