After Not Seeking Re-Election, Adam Kinzinger Floats Possible Run At Higher Office

Last week, we reported that U.S. House Rep and Trump critic Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) won’t seek re-election in next year’s midterms.

GOP Arizona State Senator Wendy Rogers celebrated the news in a tweet where she declared, “One less RINO to worry about. Bye Felicia!”

It appears, however, that we have not seen the last of Kinzinger, who currently is a part of the Jan. 6 Select Committee having been appointed by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

In an interview with CNN, Kinzinger said that he is considering launching a campaign for either the Senate or the Illinois governor’s mansion and will “probably” make a decision by January.

Not only that, but Kinzinger also told the network that he “definitely” isn’t ruling out a bid for president in 2024.

As The Hill pointed out, if he mounts a bid for statewide office in Illinois, Kinzinger will face an uphill battle as he would likely face a tough primary campaign if he were to run as a Republican.

A 2024 presidential bid wouldn’t likely be any easier for Kinzinger as Trump has indicated he will likely run again and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis appears to be the second choice for most Republicans at this point if he doesn’t.

While it is unlikely he would run as a Democrat, perhaps he might try to run as an independent and seek support from others who are anti-Trump or don’t like the direction that progressives are going in.
