After Previously Lecturing Fellow GOP Sens, Ben Sasse Announces That He’s a ‘No’ Vote on Biden’s SCOTUS Pick

While it seems that many Republican senators do things that baffle their voters often enough, when it comes to votes for judges, they often come through.

Such appears to be the case with U.S. Sen Ben Sasse (R-NE), who said today that he would be voting against the confirmation of Joe Biden’s Supreme Court nominee.

CNN’s Manu Raju reported, “GOP Sen. Ben Sasse says he’s a NO on the confirmation of Judge Jackson.”

“That is another sign that the committee is likely to deadlock 11-11. The nomination would still advance to the floor if there were a tie vote,” Raju explained.

Sasse reportedly said of his decision, “Judge Jackson is an extraordinary person with an extraordinary American story.”

“We both love this country, but we disagree on judicial philosophy and I am sadly unable to vote for this confirmation,” Sasse announced.

The decision by Sasse comes after Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) also said that he would not support Jackson’s confirmation.

As we previously reported:

U.S. Sen Ben Sasse (R-NE) went to bat again for the left today as he complained about senators who he felt were showing off for the camera, which in this case, would mean his fellow Republicans.

Talk of Sasse admonishing his colleagues during Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation hearing has gone viral with liberals on Twitter, who, of course, applauded the move.

Left-wing journalist Aaron Rupar shared a clip in a tweet and said, “Ben Sasse moments after Ted Cruz throws a performative tantrum that was tailormade for Hannity: ‘I think we should recognize that the jackassery we often see around here is partly because of people mugging for short-term camera opportunities.’”

Conservative writer Julie Kelly quote tweeted Rupar and pointed out, “Sasse mugging for the camera to produce sound clips by complaining how others mug for the camera to produce sounds clips is height Ben Sasse jackassery.”

Biden delegate Victor Shi also quote tweeted Rupar and said, “As much as I may disagree with Ben Sasse when it comes to policy, I would surely prefer to have a whole lot more Republicans like him in the Senate than people like Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham.”
