Alec Baldwin Hit with Another ‘Rust’ Lawsuit by Crew Members with ‘Blast Injuries’

On Monday, Three “Rust” crew members filed a lawsuit against Alec Baldwin and the film’s producers.

The crew members were inside the church building on the Bonanza Creek Ranch when Baldwin’s gun went off and hit director Joe Souza and cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Hutchins died from her injuries.

The three others allege they have suffered anxiety and symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder as a result of the shooting and death of Hutchins.

Ross Addiego (dolly operator), Doran Curtin (set costumer), and Reese Price (key grip) are the plaintiffs in the suit. They were all in close proximity to Baldwin when the gun went off. They allege they suffered “blast injuries” from the deafening sound.

The lawsuit alleges that producers cut corners as well as hired people who had been the subject of other safety complaints. The complaint faults producers for hiring armorer Hannah Gutierrez Reed, who leaked experience because they wanted a “quick and cheap production.”

Baldwin is faulted in the suit for not paying attention during weapons training and failing to ensure that the gun wasn’t loaded with a live round as well as discharging the bullet.

The lawsuit read, “She watched in shock as Hutchins grabbed at her abdomen. Plaintiff Curtin put her hands on Hutchins’ stomach, trying to find the source of Hutchins’ pain and figure out what was going on. As the chaos continued, Plaintiff Curtin was ushered out of the church. Once outside, she collapsed from the effects of the blast and the shock of the shooting.”

Many other lawsuits have been filed in New Mexico and California as a result of the shooting.

Shooting is set to resume this spring in Montana and Baldwin will resume his role.
