OPINION: It appears to have started with a blue check Twitter user named Justin Kollar claiming that many are wrongfully attacking Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for ‘hating on Father Damien’, a Roman Catholic Priest from Belgium. AOC responded, of course agreeing with the apparent leftist, and said that her real issue is about “the fact that a huge supermajority of statues in the Capitol are white men. Barely any women or BIPOC.”
We found the apparent source of the alleged controversy in a video below:
. @AOC calls the statue in the US capitol building of Father Damien, a canonized saint in the Catholic Church, a part of “white supremacist culture.”

We sadly had to actually Google this ‘BIPOC’ she speaks of, apparently because we are not ‘woke’ enough, and found that this terminology stands for ‘Black, Indigenous, or People of Color’. While she may have a point to some people, AOC is forgetting that 72 Republicans just cowardly sided with Nancy Pelosi to remove Confederates and a Vice President from Washington D.C., including Rep Dan Crenshaw (TX), who strangely claims the Democrats are simply trying to cover up their own history.
This just adds to the obviousness that no matter how much ground the left ever gets the right to cede, they will always want more, cementing the GOP’s mistake in history forever in our opinion. But furthermore, she seems to forget that many of the founders and many historical figures of this country just happen to be white. There’s nothing racist about that and nothing about ‘equality’ being a good thing proves that history’s depiction must change, also in our opinion.
But AOC went on even further, saying that ‘the erasure of women & BIPOC from American history is a feature of white supremacy”. Well, it seems as though the only statues being erased lately are not of these BIPOC she speaks of but we digress. See full tweet below and decide for yourself what you think of this sitting Congresswoman’s opinions:
“We have 100+ statues and portraits in the Capitol. Almost all of them are of white men. Every single statue there could be of a canonized saint and that *still* doesn’t change the fact that the erasure of women & BIPOC from American history is a feature of white supremacy.” See tweet:
