U.S. House Rep Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) took a shot at U.S. Sen Ted Cruz (R-TX) while in the Lone Star state at a progressive campaign rally yesterday.
The barb was fairly tame compared to others that Ocasio-Cortez has lobbed at Cruz in recent memory, although nevertheless, it played to a stereotype that Republicans are uncultured.
Ocasio-Cortez tweeted a video of her dancing to Selena’s “Bidi Bidi Bum Bum” and declared, “Ted Cruz could never.”
Cruz responded in a quote tweet simply, “nice mask,” referencing the fact that Ocasio-Cortez wasn’t wearing a mask in the video.

Conservative Twitter users also came to Cruz’s defense in response to Ocasio-Cortez.
“Libs of Tik Tok” responded, “Hey @tedcruz, @AOC wants to date you,” in a nod to when Ocasio-Cortez claimed that Republicans want to date her.

Florida GOP Gov Ron DeSantis press secretary Christina Pushaw also used similar language in a reply where she asked, “Why do you want to date him?”

According to the San Antonio Report, over a thousand people attended the campaign rally held in San Antonio.
Ocasio-Cortez was stumping forĀ Greg CasarĀ andĀ Jessica Cisneros, who are both running in U.S. congressional districts in the area.
Cisneros is challenging a more moderate Democrat, Henry Cuellar, while Casar is running for an open seat that will be heavily Democrat.
