Asa Hutchinson Doubles Down, Says Donald Trump Should ‘Step Aside’ in 2024 Presidential Race Due to Indictment

Former Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson (R) embarrassed himself yet again during an appearance on Fox Business on Friday, doubling down on a previous stance that he took prior to the announcement.

Hutchinson said that former President and 2024 presidential candidate Donald Trump should “step aside” in the 2024 presidential race due to his pending indictment.

“When a public official is indicted, I think with regard to the office, the office is more important than the person and they should step aside,” Hutchinson insisted.

Hutchinson, who is considering entering the presidential race, explained, “That standard should apply here.”

“It is a distraction. It is not a good day for America, but the system has to play out here and we have to have confidence that it can,” Hutchinson added.

Earlier in March, Hutchinson had told USA Today that if Trump was to be indicted, “That’s a distraction that is difficult to run for the highest office in the land under those circumstances.”

Hutchinson also said at the time, “I know he’s going to say that they’re politically motivated and all of those things, but the fact is, there’s just a lot of turmoil out there with the number of investigations going on.”

A recent Quinnipiac survey revealed that 62 percent of respondents believe that the case against Trump has a political motivation.

The comments came after Hutchinson issued a statement on Thursday where he said that he doesn’t believe Trump should be the next president and that the voters should decide at the ballot box rather than in the court system.

  4. If I accuse Asa Hutchinson of pedophilia and Incest then he should “Step down”? Is that his criteria? It would certainly be very convenient for getting rid of politicians like him.

  5. Just think Asa, if he does drop out from the race you will maybe, just ever so slightly a maybe, garner one quarter of one percent of the total vote for the primaries. Wow Dude WOW!
