Biden Attempts to Use 100,000 US Death Coronavirus ‘Milestone’ for Political Gain Against Trump

It was announced today that more than 100,000 Americans are now reported to have died from the Coronavirus. Democrat presumed presidential nominee Joe Biden released a video and an attack ad where he criticized President Trump and his administration in a clear attempt to score political points for reaching the grim milestone.

In the first video that he released, he called it a “fateful milestone that we should have never reached.” He believes that it “could have been avoided.” He referenced a study done by Columbia University, which President Trump has criticized, and said if the administration had acted sooner, “as many as 36,000 of these deaths might have been adverted.”

There are moments in our history so grim, so heart-rending, that they’re forever fixed in each of our hearts as shared grief. Today is one of those moments. 100,000 lives have now been lost to this virus. To those hurting, I’m so sorry for your loss. The nation grieves with you.

The attack ad was released with the message that “Every day Donald Trump proves how unfit he is to lead our nation.” In the video, Biden accuses Trump of downplaying covid-19, lying, suggesting injecting disinfectant, complaining, giving up, and playing golf. During this, there is a meter showing the death toll going up.

ABC News criticized the president as well in their article running a headline accusing President Trump of “Downplaying deaths” and then criticizing the President’s response as well as giving a timeline of their own showing where he underestimated the amount of people who would die from the virus.

From ABC News:

Roughly a month ago, Trump, at a White House task force briefing, said, “It looks like we’ll be at about a 60,000 mark, which is 40,000 less than the lowest number thought of.”

A few days later, on April 24, he again sought to highlight a lesser number: “Minimal numbers were going to be 100,000 people. And we’re going to be, hopefully, far below that.”

As the politically fraught threshold neared Tuesday, he continued to play down the actual figure, using new language.

“If we didn’t act quickly and smartly we would’ve had, in my opinion and the opinion of others, anywhere from 10 to 20 and maybe even 25 times the number of deaths,” Trump said, when asked to comment at a Rose Garden news conference.

He continued to make the unverified claim, as he does at every opportunity, that his decision to impose partial restrictions on travel from China, which took effect in early February, had made all the difference.

They claim to be an unbiased media but when you contrast what Biden is putting out right now in his campaign compared to what is in the ABC news article, it is impossible to tell the difference.
