President Joe Biden gave a speech today after touring the damage from Hurricane Ida in New York and New Jersey where he blamed climate change for the natural disaster.
A clip from the speech shows Biden awkwardly telling a 7 year old boy “don’t jump,” a joke that some noted he had previously used.
The clip begins by Biden asking the boy, “What’s your name?”
U.S. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is seen standing next to Biden and tells him, “He can’t hear you.”
Undeterred, Biden then yells, “How old are you?”
The boy can be heard responding “Seven.”
Biden then said, “Aww, you’re getting old” and then gives the boy a history lesson that would appeal to his progressive base.
“By the way, the neat thing about America, every time we end up with a problem, going into a serious circumstance, we come out better than we went in. That’s because we’re so diverse, that’s America. I’m proud of it,” Biden explains.
Biden then added, “Thank you… and don’t jump.”
Kyle Becker said of the clip, “Why does Biden tell a 7-year-old boy “don’t jump” from a balcony? This is *not* normal.”
Abigail Marone, who is press secretary for U.S. Sen Josh Hawley (R-MO), quote tweeted Becker and noted, “Biden also made this same “joke” to a group of employees at a DC hardware store he visited. Very weird.”
