Biden Weighs In on ‘News of the Day,’ Adds to Dem Leader’s Calls For Gov. Cuomo to Resign

In March, we reported that President Biden, who was essentially cornered by the media while outside the White House at the time said that he planned to go with the wait-and-see approach in regards to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo (D) and his sexual harassment allegations.

When asked at the time, “Do you think Governor Andrew Cuomo should resign?” Biden responded, “I think the investigation is underway and we should see what it brings us.”

Now that the investigation has concluded and determined that the allegations had merit, Biden was asked about his previous statements and whether he would call on Cuomo to resign now.

“I stand by that statement,” Biden answered.

The reporter continued, “Are you now calling on him to resign?” Biden replied, “Yes.”

Pressing further, the reporter inquired, “And if he doesn’t resign, do you believe he should be impeached and removed form office?”

Biden pumped the brakes on that speculation and stated, “Let’s take one thing at a time here, I think he should resign. I understand that the state legislature may decide to impeach, I don’t know that for a fact, I have not read all that data.”

Earlier we reported that Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) also called on Gov. Cuomo to resign, as well as other top Democrats.

Business Insider reported on additional comments by Biden:

Biden added that he hasn’t spoken with Cuomo nor has he read the 165-page investigation, but he knows the “end result.”

“Look, I’m not gonna flyspeck this. I’m sure there were some embraces that were totally innocent,” Biden continued. “But apparently the attorney general decided there were things that weren’t.”
