Buffalo Bills Give Update on Damar Hamlin: ‘Signs of Improvement’, but ‘Expected to Remain Under Intensive Care’

On Wednesday the Buffalo Bills shared on their Twitter account the most recent update on Damar Hamlin’s condition.

“Damar remains in the ICU in critical condition with signs of improvement noted yesterday and overnight. He is expected to remain under intensive care as his health care team continues to monitor and treat him.”

Tuesday the account shared an update and also stated that “We are grateful and thankful for the outpouring of support.”

“Damar Hamlin spent last night in the intensive care unit and remains there today in critical condition at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. We are grateful and thankful for the outpouring of support we have received thus far.”

During the Bills vs Bangles Monday night game, Hamlin was struck in the chest while he was tackling Tee Higgins. Hamlin stood up after the tackle and then fell to the ground. The game was paused as medical officials rushed to Hamlin.

Hamlin’s heart had stopped beating, CPR was performed on Hamlin for 9 minutes and his heartbeat was restored. He was then taken to UC Medical Center by ambulance, his mother was with him as he was transported.

The Bills shared late on Monday:

“Damar Hamlin suffered a cardiac arrest following a hit in our game versus the Bengals. His heartbeat was restored on the field and he was transferred to the UC Medical Center for further testing and treatment. He is currently sedated and listed in critical condition.”

A Toy Drive that Hamlin had started in 2020 started to receive many donations after his collapse. Currently, the fundraiser shows over six and a half million in donations made.

Many have sent their prayers and wishes for a speedy recovery to Hamlin. NFL teams have changed their profile pictures to Buffalo Bill’s colors with words that read “Pray for Damar” with his number below.

According to the NFL, Hamlin is currently on a ventilator, but is improving and has decreased from 100% oxygen to now only needing 50%.

Many are hoping to see Hamlin awaken soon and start his recovery.
