Firebrand commentator Candace Owens today responded with outrage to the news that charges have been dropped against actor Alec Baldwin for the shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
Owens declared in a tweet, “Alec Baldwin having all charges dropped against him is positively criminal.”
“He quite literally shot and killed someone on the set of his own movie and he will never have to face charges,” Owens explained.
Owens then insisted that having the charges dropped is an “Unbelievable privilege that only a wealthy, connected democrat could experience.”
Veteran James Bradley asked in response to Owens, “So can we now officially retire the statement that ‘nobody is above the law’?”

The announcement that the charges have been dropped against Baldwin comes on the heels of news that production of the movie where the shooting death occurred will resume this week.
The charges against Baldwin were announced in January and included involuntary manslaughter with a gun enhancement that could have carried a five-year prison sentence if convicted.
However, the gun enhancement charge was dropped in February, which meant that the most Baldwin could have faced was 18 months from the involuntary manslaughter charge.
Baldwin had pled not guilty and after the announcement today, his attorneys said in a statement, “We are pleased with the decision to dismiss the case against Alec Baldwin and we encourage a proper investigation into the facts and circumstances of this tragic accident.”

I love you Candace and all you stand for but am not on board with you on this one.
Obviously Baldwin did not intend to harm Hutchins. It was a a letting down of his guard probably from hundreds of times handling a prop gun. Criminal charges are overkill but negligence charges maybe so.
I am a gun owner and would never, ever point a gun, unloaded, blank, beebee or otherwise at another person. But I would imagine on a movie set things can be rather loose and carefree. It is so sad none of this will bring her back. My heart breaks for her family.
Just sayin’.
