CBS News Responds to Musk Overhaul, ‘Pauses’ Twitter Activity ‘Out of an Abundance of Caution’

CBS News, apparently triggered by the overhaul that Elon Musk is doing with Twitter, has decided to “pause” activity on the social media platform “out of an abundance of caution.”

The announcement was made yesterday during the “Evening News with Norah O’Donnell” and it has now been 20 hours since the last tweet from the official “CBS News” Twitter account.

CBS News National Correspondent Jonathan Vigliotti made the announcement as he said, “In light of the uncertainty around Twitter and out of an abundance of caution, CBS News is pausing its activity on the social media site as it continues to monitor the platform.”

According to Fox News, the announcement to “pause” came during a segment by Vigliotti titled “Twitter Turmoil.”

Vigliotti reported in what Fox News described as a dire tone, “Tonight, as questions mount over Twitter’s future, Elon Musk offers little reassurance he has a permanent plan, tweeting, ‘What should Twitter do next?’”

The story featured a quote from a disgruntled former engineer who was laid off, who claimed that the culture of Twitter under Musk was “definitely a culture of fear and uncertainty, of anxiety,” Fox News noted.

Arizona GOP Attorney General nominee Abe Hamadeh reported the news in a tweet and wondered, “What are they scared of? Truthful tweets?”

Judicial Watch’s Tom Fitton questioned in a tweet if there would be “Any similar move for Chinese-communist Tiktok?”

Actor Randy Quaid responded to the news with a tweet where he said, “CBS News found peddling crap not as easy as it used to be.”

“Those losers report as if they never heard of Walter Cronkite,” Quaid added.
