Clarence Thomas Told Former Clerk He plans to Serve for 43 Years to Make Liberals ‘Miserable’

In a New York Times article from 1993, a former clerk of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas told the NYT that the Justice said after being confirmed, “The liberals made my life miserable for 43 years, and I’m going to make their lives miserable for 43 years.”

Thomas was 43 when he was confirmed to the Supreme Court. His confirmation hearings were well publicized as he faced allegations of sexual harassment from a subordinate named Anita Hill. At the time, U.S Senator Joe Biden (D-DE) was the one who led Thomas’s confirmation hearing in 1991.

Biden has publicly said he believed Antia Hill’s allegations.

Over the last week, Thomas has definitely been making liberals “miserable”, with decisions coming from the Supreme Court that has shaken the liberal left. The Supreme Court has overturned Roe Vs. Wade, giving the second amendment a boost, and a win for religious freedom in schools just since Thursday of last week.

The overturning of Roe has probably caused the most commotion among the virulent left, with protests continuing this week over the decision.

Although Thomas did not author the main opinion for the case that overturned Roe vs Wade, he did add his own Opinion. In it, he tapped into some of the liberal’s deepest fears. He stated that the court should take a look at cases like Roe.

This has liberals losing their proverbial minds in our view, as they are afraid that gay marriage would not be found to be constitutional; as Obergefell, as well as Roe, were decided on the legal theory of “substantive due process”.

As for liberals having made his life miserable, Thomas’s confirmation hearings attest to that.

With his wife by his side at his confirmation hearings back in 1991, Thomas was asked by Biden if there was anything he would like to say after Anita Hill presented her allegations at his hearings.

Thomas had plenty to say, “this today is a travesty, I think that it is discussing, I think that this hearing should never occur in America.” He accused staffers of the committee of having searched for sleaze and dirt and leaked the allegations to the media then the committee validated the allegations by bringing Hill to the hearing which was broadcast during primetime. He also called it a “circus” and a “high-tech lynching” for thinking differently.

Thomas was ultimately confirmed in a vote of 52 to 48.

Actor James Woods shared a picture of Justice Thomas with a tweet:

“Justice Clarence Thomas never uttered a word for three decades, then rolled over the Left in three weeks like a Sherman tank. #HeroOfTheRepublic

Megan Basham shared a clip of Thomas speaking at the Heritage Foundation with, “Right is still right even if you stand by yourself.” Thomas = platonic ideal of based.”
