Twitter user “ALX” shared a clip from CNN where the commentators are discussing the suspension of some mainstream journalists. CNN has issued a statement that they will be “reevaluating” their relationship with Twitter.
Now that Twitter owner Elon Musk is applying the rules of Twitter to all who use the platform, some “journalists” are being suspended for violating Twitter’s Terms of Service.
CNN Commentator Oliver Darcy shares that for him, it raises the question of what the “free press” looks like. He then questions if news organizations are going to stand by while journalists are “hastily banned without explanation”. He then explained that CNN is going to “reevaluate” its relationship with Twitter.
CNN issued a statement on the suspensions, “The impulsive and unjustified suspension of a number of reporters, including CNN’s Donie O’Sullivan, is concerning but not surprising. Twitter’s increasing instability and volatility should be of incredible concern for everyone who uses Twitter. We have asked Twitter for an explanation, and we will reevaluate our relationship based on that response.”
Darcy goes on to point out that Twitter relies on news calling it the “lifeblood” of Twitter. Twitter is where many look for breaking stories. Journalists also use Twitter to find stories as well, and one could call it a symbiotic relationship.
O’Sullivan has denied doing anything wrong claiming he was only suspended because he “poked the billionaire”. Musk shared O’Sullivan was suspended because he “doxxed” him revealing the location of his family. O’Sullivan denies he did this.

All of this was sparked after a person was stalking a vehicle with Musk’s son in it because they reportedly thought that Musk himself was inside.
Now that mainstream media is facing scrutiny on Twitter for their methods and with some journalists suspended, they are pushing back on the Twitter suspensions.
Previously Twitter has suspended and banned many accounts that offended those who worked at the company or leftist celebrities and politicians.
Musk has shared that his goal with Twitter is to apply the rules evenly. He wants Twitter to be a free speech platform and a town hall of sorts, where people can freely exchange ideas. He has also said that about 10% of both sides will be unhappy with what he does.
It appears that with the rules being evenly applied the left and the main stream media aren’t happy with this application.
Many on the right think it’s ironic that now the left cares about Twitter censorship, when they didn’t before.
