Cook Political Spells Doom for Dems as 8 House Seats are Estimated to have Moved in GOP’s Favor

The Cook Political Report shifted eight U.S. House races in the direction of the GOP in a report to their subscribers yesterday. Axios did an expose’ on this report, which could be taken as a warning to Democrats that they may be in big trouble come November of this year.

With internet censorship, immigration, and Covid-19 rules and restrictions on the ballot, upcoming elections could be a huge wildcard in our view. The game has changed in ways no one saw coming, with mothers angry about “Critical Race Theory”, accusations of “grooming”, and the subsequential pushback from the left, and the Russian-Ukrainian war shaking up American culture and politics as we know it. From the Axios report on the Cook Political alert:

“That means no Democrat in a single-digit Biden (or Trump-won) district is secure, and even some seats Biden carried by double-digit margins in 2020 could come into play this fall, giving the GOP surprising ‘reach opportunities…”

Meanwhile, Joe Biden’s approval ratings remain in the tank as inflation and gas prices are out of control. The Democrats and many left-leaning media outlets have refuted claims that Joe Biden and the Democrats are to blame for those things.

But that doesn’t mean they’ll be able to convince voters who may see things differently. Axios reports that the GOP only needs a five-seat gain to re-take the U.S. House of Representatives. No one can say how the mid-terms will go, but it looks like they may get more than that. The reported shifts from Cook are:

  • Ind.-01: Likely D to Lean D
  • Nev.-03: Lead D to toss up
  • Nev.-04: Lean D to toss up
  • N.J.-03: Solid D to Likely D
  • N.Y.-04: Solid D to Likely D
  • N.Y.-19: Likely D to Lean D
  • N.C.-01: Likely D to Lean D
  • Va.-07: Lean D to toss up

What might quite possibly be the scariest though yet for Democrats is the possibility that if Republicans do well in November, an official announcement of Donald Trump running for president in 2024 may soon follow.

If that should happen, the fundraising for the GOP and the Trump campaign would likely go “gangbusters”, putting the 2024 election on a nearly two-year bender that could dominate the news cycle and social media the entire time. This takes the breath out of Joe Biden’s administration’s plan to “tone things down” and distracts the nation from seeing if he even accomplishes anything good at all.
