Cotton to Watters: Anyone Who Complains it’s Racist to Say Wuhan Virus is a Politically Correct Fool

Many on the Left have decided it is “xenophobic” to call Covid19 the “Wuhan Virus”, “Wuhan Coronavirus” or “WuFlu”. While on Fox News’ “Watter’s World”, Senator Tom Cotton’s (R-AR) message to all of them is “anyone who complains that it’s racist or xenophobic to call this virus the Wuhan Virus is a politically correct fool”. Additionally, on a Tucker Carlson segment, Tucker shows that just a month ago, no one in the media thought twice about calling Covid19 the Wuhan Coronavirus and Chinese Coronavirus, showing clips from CNN and MSNBC. Tucker makes the point, now that China is trying to push the narrative that the virus may have not originated and trying to place blame on the United States, the left sees it in a whole different light.

CEO and national director of the ADL Jonathan Greenblatt, who seems to be the “unofficial authority” on these matters, tweeted an article from the New York Times that was critical of the term “Wuhan Virus”. Greenblatt’s tweet reads “It is racist to refer to #coronavirus/#Covid19 as “Wuhan virus,” “foreign virus” or “Chinese virus.” Period. Elected leaders have a responsibility to refer to this virus by its clinical name and not incite fear and xenophobia.”
