Democrats in Florida and around the nation are attempting to put pressure on GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis to not sign into law the Parental Rights in Education bill.
The bill has passed both the House and the Senate and DeSantis has indicated that he intends to sign it at this point.
One way that the left is attempting to get him not to sign it is by using the cancel tactics that they have refined, especially since the Black Lives Matter riots in 2020.
The latest target is Disney, who they are calling on to take a stand against the bill.
A recent LA Times article reported that Disney employees are “hurt” and “angry” over Disney CEO Bob Chapek’s response to the bill.
California Dem Gov. Gavin Newsom shared the article in a tweet where he said, “Disney, the door is open to bring those jobs back to California – the state that actually represents the values of your workers.”
It is unclear exactly what jobs Disney could bring back to California, as much of the company still operates primarily in the state.
Perhaps Newsom would like them to close Disneyworld and somehow move it to a plot of land in the golden state, although land values don’t seem to make much sense for that.
DeSantis’ press secretary Christina Pushaw mocked Newsom’s suggestion as she pointed out that he “kept Disneyland closed for 13 months straight” along with a laughing face emoji.

It was reported last April that Disneyland reopened to visitors after an unprecedented 13-month closure as theme parks were among the last businesses allowed to reopen in California.
Disney World’s Magic Kingdom resort has been up and running, though at lower-than-usual capacity, since last July, it was noted.
