A desperate Stacey Abrams yesterday claimed in a tweet that the “difference” between herself and Brian Kemp is that she cares for “all of Georgia” while he “only cares about his rich friends.”
The attack from Abrams comes as she appears to be falling further behind the incumbent GOP governor in the polls.
A recent poll from the Remington Research Group showed that the Democratic nominee was 14 points behind Kemp.
The media has tried to offer Abrams a boost by reporting recently that a $350 relief payment that was given to Georgians by Kemp “has been fraught with complications.”
The state’s Department of Human Services, however, has said that the “overwhelming majority” of people have spent the funds without any issues.
Kemp announced the program in August, which would send $350 cash payments totaling more than $1 billion to people who are enrolled in some of the state’s major benefits programs, such as Medicaid, TANF, and SNAP, in the form of pre-paid cards.
The program is funded by federal aid leftover from the American Rescue Plan that Democrats in Congress approved in March 2021.
Nevertheless, Abrams asked in the tweet “The difference between Brian Kemp and me?”
“I care for all of Georgia. Kemp only cares about his rich friends,” Abrams insisted.
One Twitter user told Abrams in reply that she believed the difference is that “Kemp doesn’t want to defund the police and you do.”
Kemp doesn't want to defund the police and you do.
