Today is the first day of public impeachment hearings in the House. Minority Chairman of the House Intelligence Committee Devin Nunes’ (R) opening statement delivered impactful points on unanswered questions that appear to detract from the validity of the ongoing impeachment. He spoke directly after House Intelligence Chairman Adam Schiff (D) opened up the hearing. Nunes says no hearings should be held at all until three questions are answered.
“First, what is the full extent of the Democrat’s prior coordination with the whistleblower and who else did the whistleblower coordinate this effort with? Second, what is the full extent of Ukraine’s election meddling against the Trump campaign? And third, why did Burisma hire Hunter Biden and what did he do for them and did his position affect any US Government actions under the Obama administration?” These questions will remain unanswered as Republicans were denied most of the witnesses they requested for the public impeachment hearings.

Nunes points out what he believes to be a clear bias in all of the actions leading up to the impeachment. “The whistleblower was acknowledged to have a bias against President Trump, and his attorney touted a coup against the President and called for his impeachment just weeks after the election.”
Nunes takes it all back to what started the Mueller investigation into Russian meddling as what has brought us here. “Let’s recall for years they (Democrats) accused the Trump campaign of colluding with Russia when they themselves were colluding with Russia by funding and spreading the Steel Dossier which relied on Russian sources and now they accuse President Trump of malfeasance in Ukraine when they themselves are culpable.”
Nunes also calls into question the Democrat’s actions with Ukraine prior to the Election of President Trump. “The Democrats cooperated in Ukrainian election meddling and they defend Hunter Biden’s securing of a lavishly paid position with a corrupt Ukrainian company. All while his father served as Vice President.”
This marks the beginning of the public House impeachment hearing against President Trump and more information is sure to roll out as further testimony, rebuttals and arguments are held throughout the week. It is anyone’s guess as to what the end result will be as it relates to whether impeachment of President Trump will happen or if this will only serve to discredit him for his 2020 re-election campaign. One thing that is for sure is these hearing will be dominating the headlines for the foreseeable future.
