Due to Reported ‘Miscommunication’ Capitol Police Order Evacuation of Capitol Over Golden Knights Parachuting into Nationals Park

An apparent embarrassing situation occurred tonight as the Capitol Police ordered the evacuation of the U.S. Capitol.

The reason is reportedly due to a plane and parachutists heading for Nationals Park on Military Appreciation Day, NBC News reported.

According to NBC News’ sources, it appears to have been a miscommunication that triggered the automatic evacuation out of caution.

Initially, they had issued an alert saying officials were tracking an aircraft that posed a “probable threat” to the complex and ordered an evacuation of the area.

In a tweet, the Capitol Police said, “The Capitol was evacuated out of an abundance of caution this evening. There is no threat at the Capitol. More details to come.”

Freelance journalist Emma Loop shared a video where she said, “After seeing news here of an aircraft triggering an evacuation order at the Capitol (police now say there is NO threat), I saw this small plane flying low & slow about 14 blocks east of the Capitol.”

“Reports circling that it was parachuters for the Nats game…” Loop added.

Digital strategist Greg Price reacted to the news in a tweet where he said, “Lol the Capitol police just called for an evacuation because of Army parachuters jumping into Nats Park for Military Appreciation Day.”
