Elizabeth Warren Claims That the Supreme Court Has ‘Lost Legitimacy’ and Needs to Expand

U.S. Sen Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) today claimed in an interview on ABC’s “This Week” that the Supreme Court has “lost legitimacy” and needs to expand.

“This court has lost legitimacy. They have burned whatever legitimacy they may still have had after their gun decision, after their voting decision, after their union decision, they just took the last of it and set a torch to it with the Roe vs. Wade opinion.”

“I believe that we need to get some confidence in our court and that means that we need more Justices on the United States Supreme Court.”

In a tweet sharing a clip of her appearance on the show, Warren declared:

“The Supreme Court has a legitimacy crisis.”

“Six radical justices are imposing their extremist views on the entire country — against the will of the American people.”

“Congress must protect our democracy from this rogue Court.”

Previously, we reported that Warren went on an “angry” rant outside of the Supreme Court as she vowed to “fight back” against overturning Roe vs. Wade.

Protesters had gathered outside the Supreme Court within hours of a leaked draft decision to overturn Roe vs. Wade and they were joined by bigger crowds yesterday morning.

As The Cut reported, at some point, Warren stopped by and was captured in a video outside the building “looking just about ready to explode.”

A clip of Warren’s rant has been shared on Twitter with many asking when she might be held accountable for “inciting an insurrection.”

Warren accused Republicans of angling to overturn the abortion decision for decades and declared, “We are going to fight back.”

As she was being led away, Warren also told a reporter holding the camera, “I am angry.”

“I’m angry and upset and determined. The United States Congress can keep Roe vs. Wade the law of the land. They just need to do it,” Warren insisted.

Warren added that she believes, “We’ve heard enough from extremists and we’re tired.”
