Elon Musk responded this morning to a Friday tweet from U.S. House Rep Adam Schiff (D-CA) insulting him, but ultimately thought better of it and promptly deleted it.
However, many Twitter users were able to capture a screenshot of the deleted response and Musk later laughed at another response to Schiff from a Twitter user that referenced the deleted tweet.
Schiff declared in the original tweet, “Elon Musk calls himself a free speech absolutist, to justify turning a blind eye to hatred and bigotry on Twitter. But when journalists report unfavorable news, they are banned without warning.”
“The devotion to free speech is apparently not that absolute. But the hypocrisy is,” Schiff added, chiding the Twitter owner.
In the deleted tweet, Musk responded to Schiff, “Thankfully, you lose your chairmanship very soon. Your brain is too small.”
One left-wing Twitter user shot back at Musk, “So in Regards to @Twitter RULES.. it would appear this tweet violates YOUR TERMS… Specifically the “Shame or Degrade Others” How long are you Giving yourself a ‘Timeout’? 24 Hrs? One Week?”

Another Twitter user later responded to Schiff with a meme that showed a “404 error. Brain not found!”
Musk replied to them with a rolling-on-the-floor laughing emoji.

On Dec. 8, Schiff attacked Musk over “hate speech” on the site and Musk disputed his claims.
