Elon Musk tonight responded with shock after the November border numbers show a large increase in “migrant encounters” versus last year.
Fox News’ Bill Melugin shared the numbers in a tweet where he announced, “In a blatant Friday evening news dump going into Christmas weekend, the federal government has released the November border numbers.”
“CBP reports 233,740 migrant encounters, the highest November ever recorded, and a large increase over last November (174,845),” Melugin reported.
Musk responded to the tweet by Melugin with two exclamation marks.

Melugin added in a reply, “A reminder, these numbers do not include known gotaways. CBP sources tell us there were at least 73,000 known gotaways in the month of November alone.”
“These are people who are detected or seen, but there is no manpower to get to them for capturer,” Melugin explained.

Musk has been following news about the border recently as he has commented on it in response to various Melugin tweets.
Last week, Musk replied “Wow” after Melugin shared a video about a caravan of nearly 20 migrant buses that were escorted by Mexican police into Ciudad Juarez before they crossed en masse into El Paso, TX.

Prior to Melugin’s data release, his fellow Fox News reporter Griff Jenkins reported that CBP sources gave Fox News a number of border statistics.
