Elon Musk Sides With Richard Dreyfuss Against Academy Awards Diversity Quotas: ‘Instantly Devalues Their Awards’

Elon Musk today sided with legendary actor Richard Dreyfuss against the diversity quotas that have been enacted by the Academy Awards.

The statement from Musk came in the form of a tweet in response to a CNN article on the situation, which was tweeted by CNN.

As the article pointed out, officials announced in 2020 that beginning in 2024, movies must meet certain criteria for representation to be eligible for the Academy Award for best picture.

In order to be eligible, a film has to meet at least two of four benchmarks, which cover – among other things – whether the lead actors are from underrepresented groups or if at least 30% of the cast and crew come from these groups, CNN noted.

CNN announced in the tweet that “Actor Richard Dreyfuss said the Academy Awards’ new diversity guidelines ‘make me vomit.'”

The remarks from Dreyfuss came during a PBS interview with Margaret Hoover and he told her that the rules were not appropriate “Because this is an art form.”

Musk declared that in his opinion, “Any organization that puts quotas above merit, instantly devalues their awards.”

Former NFL player Jake Beguette told Musk in response, “Dreyfuss supported every leftist cause back when he was winning Oscars.”

“Suddenly things have gone too far for him, now that he’s no longer winning Oscars,” Beguette, who also shared a screenshot backing the assertion that Dreyfuss has supported Democrats in the past, explained.

Beguette added, “He could’ve spoken out years ago, but he chose not to. Better late than never, but he’s no hero.”
